From Multiple Recruitment Agencies to Ryze’s Exceptional Work Environment

What Makes This Job Attractive?
Recruitment trends from clients offer valuable insights into their business directions, while the needs behind hiring requirements provide a front-row view of various industry developments. Especially in global multinational firms, hiring closely mirrors shifts in the world economy and sector dynamics, allowing one to sense global trends through talent acquisition. This role requires deep cultural understanding of both Japan and overseas markets. As a returnee, I find it highly rewarding to leverage my background to connect Japan and the world simultaneously.
Every day, I have the opportunity to speak with exceptionally talented candidates and learn about technical innovations and industry developments. This constant flow of new knowledge and discoveries ensures the work is never monotonous.
However, the greatest fulfillment comes when clients and placed candidates express their gratitude. Recruiting top talent is challenging, and successfully closing a placement brings a strong sense of accomplishment. For candidates, a career move is often a significant step forward, and through recruiting, I find genuine satisfaction in making a meaningful difference in people’s careers.

Why Did You Choose to Join Ryze?
I previously worked with Bill (CEO), who led the IT team and was a trusted supervisor. After he left for another company and later started his own business, I wanted to work with him again. That desire led me to decide to join Ryze.
What Are Your Impressions of Working at Ryze?
I have worked at various recruitment firms before, but many consultants there became exhausted due to intense internal competition over clients. At Ryze, although we have many clients and assignments, the consultant team is still relatively small. This means there is little internal competition, and consultants are assigned a comparatively larger number of clients and projects, creating a flexible system that supports a comfortable working environment.
Ryze serves many innovative, high-growth foreign clients specializing in new technologies. Our client base is expanding largely through word of mouth, and I feel the company growing every day. Working at a dynamic company like this is highly motivating.
While delivering results is essential, Ryze does not burden consultants with KPIs unrelated to productivity or unnecessary meetings. Decision-making is swift and flexible, allowing me to focus my time and energy on high-priority work. This has significantly improved my efficiency. The incentive system for consultants is more flexible than at other executive search firms, and the company genuinely cares about each employee’s satisfaction.
When I’m unsure about the best approach to communicate with clients or candidates, I can easily consult experienced supervisors and colleagues. This support prevents wasted time and helps me work with greater confidence. Having been in this industry for about 15 years, I continue to learn something new every day.
At larger recruitment firms, there are many established rules and customs that make new client acquisition difficult. Ryze, however, offers the flexibility to propose services tailored to each client’s needs, making new business development easier than before. While new client acquisition is not mandatory, consultants have the freedom to proactively approach companies aligned with their expertise and interests, which enhances motivation.
At Ryze, the recruitment consultant role is performance-based, so the results I achieve are directly reflected in my evaluation. Success depends on individual effort, regardless of background or academic credentials, creating a healthy sense of challenge. Everyone at Ryze works with high motivation, which is inspiring, and the workplace is very supportive.

What’s the Team Culture Like?
Ryze has a great workplace atmosphere where everyone collaborates openly. The team is filled with wonderful people, making me look forward to coming to work every day. The environment is casual and friendly—with jokes exchanged throughout the day—making it the most comfortable workplace I’ve experienced since starting my career.
Having worked at several firms, I once thought psychological safety was impossible in the recruiting industry, but Ryze proves it can be achieved. With about half the staff being international and many Japanese employees bilingual, the culturally diverse environment feels especially welcoming for someone like me, a returnee.
What convinced me to join was being invited to the company’s Thanksgiving party. The warmth and openness I experienced there made me want to be part of the team—and that impression has proven true since I started. I believe CEO Bill’s honest and approachable nature shapes the positive company culture.
Ryze offers flexible work arrangements, making it easy to balance work with personal activities like gym visits or social events. My work-life balance has improved significantly. The stylish, open office space is so comfortable it might even be nicer than my home in Nishi-Azabu (laughs).
While some projects are challenging, reduced internal stress allows me to focus better and work more efficiently. I feel motivated and fulfilled every day. Work has truly become enjoyable.
What Are Your Goals for the Future?
Through executive search targeting global senior and executive talent, I aim to contribute to the growth of more companies and the advancement of individual careers.
